Type 2 Diabetes

for approximately 90 per cent of all people with diabetes and is usually diagnosed in individuals over 40 years old. Often a combination of genetic
and environmental factors are involved. Research suggests that people from South Asian and black origins are more at risk and may develop type 2 diabetes
at an earlier age. Type 2 diabetes is becoming more prevalent in children and adolescents in all ethnic groups. Treatment is a healthy diet and exercise
however oral medication and/or insulin & non-insulin injections are usually necessary.
