My Diabetes My Way: February 2017 Update

Posted: 15/03/2017

Welcome to the My Diabetes My Way Newsletter for February 2017.

Pharmacy Poster Campaign

The Scottish Government began a pharmacy poster campaign on 8th February - which will run till 6th March - focusing on diabetes and the '9 processes of care'. These posters have been issued to every community pharmacy in Scotland and feature comedian and presenter Fred MacAulay.

The poster includes resources for people living with diabetes, and highlights My Diabetes My Way as a source of information and help with self-management. Here is one we saw on display in Glasgow: https://twitter.com/MyDiabetesMyWay/status/832274583499767808

Data Quality Improvements

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve the quality and completeness of your records on My Diabetes My Way, we have been reviewing the recording of eye screening data items. If you had noticed that some of your previous assessment records were missing from the history tables in the 'my eyes' section, they should now be available. The most important of these are your retinopathy and maculopathy status. You can find out more information about these assessments by clicking the blue '?' icon next to each data item.

If you are not sure where to find your eye data on My Diabetes My Way, the following short video explains the types of information available: www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4lop2VLILI

Please note, My Diabetes My Way only contains data from the diabetes eye screening service. If you have been referred to the specialist eye screening service (Ophthalmology) for your eye care, this information is not currently available.

Email Issues and User Support

We have recently been made aware that some email service providers were blocking automated emails from My Diabetes My Way. The email address providers that we are aware of include BT internet, Tiscali and TalkTalk.

We believe that this issue is now resolved and we will be taking the following actions over the next few days:

New registrations: If you have recently registered for the first time and have not received an email from us to verify your email address, then it is likely that your email was blocked. We will resend this confirmation email to you.

New accounts: If you have recently been sent your username and password details from myaccount, but no further instructions from My Diabetes My Way to explain what to do next, we will resend these instructions. In the meantime, please review our login tutorial: www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRwZ_Xgv7cE

If you continue to experience problems or have any questions, please email us on mydiabetesmyway@nhs.net

Many thanks for your continued support.
